Caledon is a beautiful place. We’re lucky to be surrounded by some exceptional hiking trails, parks and conservation areas that make perfect settings for your next family photo session. Here are a few of my favourite spots to take families who want to capture their photos surrounded by nature.
First up is a section of the Bruce Tail that can be accessed from a parking lot on Duffy’s Lane. The Bruce Trail covers a huge area all the way from Niagara to Tobermory and it passes right through Caledon on it’s way.
This section of the trail has some beautiful riverside views, open grasslands and marshy woodlands. If you like hiking you’ll love this trail and it offers a great variety for photography options.
This is a fairly accessible area to get to. There’s a parking lot on Duffy’s Lane, but keep in mind Duffy’s Lane is a heavily wooded area and it can be quite hilly. If you are looking for something more accessible, keep reading because the next two locations might be better fits.
Next on my list is a short 2.5km trail loop that’s part of the Nashville Conservation Reserve. Just East of Bolton it can be accessed from Concession 11, south of King Road.
I love to take families here and make images next to the old wooden fences along the trail. This trail is also one of my favourite places to take my dog Monty for walks.
The entrance that I like to use for photos at Nashville Conservation Reserve in Caledon lies at the end of Concession 11, south of King Road. I find this spot to be more accessible that Duffy’s Lane. While there are some hills, it’s easier to get around and get some great photos at almost any time of year.
Hilarious name aside, for families looking for a photography option with a bit more of a manicured look, Dick’s Dam park is a great place.
The park is very well maintained by the town and has a beautiful steel bridge that makes a fantastic setting for Family Photos. There is also a small meadow with trails cut through the tall grass. It’s a short walk from the park to Downtown Bolton. If you’re craving some ice cream after the shoot I highly recommend Happy Days!
This photo spot is probably the most accessible of the three spots. To get there, go north on Queen Street (coming out of downtown Bolton) and take a left on Hickman Street, and a quick right on Glasglow into the parking lot.
I’m always out and about in the area, and looking for more inspiration. One thing is for sure, there are so many trails and parks in the area that I don’t think I’ll ever run out of inspiration.
Hopefully this gives you a few good ideas on where you can go to capture some great photos of yourself, and your family in Caledon.
By the way, if you’d like to capture a memorable moment for yourself, or your family please check out my page on family photography, and don’t hesitate to reach out.

In October 2021 we used Nick Perry Photography for our family photos and they turned out so beautiful! Nick was very professional and offered a very personal experience in our preferred outdoor location. We were very happy with his lifestyle, natural photos and he was fantastic with our 4 year old son and even our chocolate lab. I will be booking Nick again for this year and would highly recommend him to capture your families and special moments.
Dr. Jennifer Murray Family Photography ClientNick is very professional and creative. Nick is the best Pro photographer I have ever used. Don't settle for an amateur, use a pro.
Shawn Sinclair Family Photography ClientI had seen Nick's work previously when a friend had hired him for photos, so I assumed I would be getting some nice pictures of our newborn daughter. I have to say though I was still taken aback at how good they were. I assumed we would get some generic baby-pose photos to put on a book or make prints for a wall. He had recommendations for shots and angles that turned out amazingly well, and brought out both ours and our daughter's personalities. His photography is not only visually stunning, but really seemed to tell a story.
Jake Phillips Family Photography ClientFantastic photographer who can keep my children focused and posing for their portraits. The pictures are amazing and I cannot recommend enough! Thank you Nick, my kids don’t often look this great!

Nick recently did some executive style headshots and photos for me to help promote my new project. I am extremely happy with the results. Nick is an extremely talented photographer, and was able to make me comfortable which helped bring out my personality. Finished photos were delivered quickly too!
